"Steve Gent epitomises what all that a good personal trainer should be. His skill is to combine his excellent knowledge of the physical aspects of exercise and physiology with a great understanding of the psychology of it all. He makes me want to try my hardest and he gets the best out of me. I ALWAYS enjoy my one on one training sessions with Steve and I love the group army style circuit training - Bootcamp - which he runs.
When I started training with Steve I had already taken up running and had run 2 marathons. I had never tried any other exercise and my upper body strength was poor and I frequently had back, neck and arm pain. Steve has helped me to broaden my horizons and I now enjoy weight training and a variety of other exercises. As a result of this, exercise has become more fun, my upper body strength has improved and my aches and pains reduced. He helped me with programmes to train for the London Marathon, several other races and my first triathlon.
Mentally Steve has pulled me through periods where as a result of studying, work and family commitments my training and fitness has suffered and I felt like giving up on exercise. My regular sessions with Steve have really kept me going through these difficult times. Steve is so POSITIVE and he always listens, I always feel more positive and upbeat after a gym session with him.
I bought several sessions with Steve for my husband for his 40th birthday - he was not impressed... until he started! Five years on he is fitter than he has been since he was in the Navy in his youth!

"I worked with Steve for about 2 years prior to the 2004 Olympic Games. When I started working with him he didn't know much about the sport of Diving but it didn't take him long to discover what was required. He watched me train, performed a need's analysis and put together a training programme to improve my strength and power.
He also identified key areas of my flexibility that were affecting my posture during dives and helped to make some great improvements.
The thing I like best about Steve is his ability to ensure exercises were specific to me and my sport and that he could motivate me to work hard and focus on my goals. He is easy to get along with and also made my training fun. I believe that without Steve coaching me for my strength & conditioning I wouldn't have won my silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
